Junior Warden’s Message for the month May 2018

Greetings Brethren!

Stated Meeting (and Stated Meeting Dinner) will be on May 3. Dinner will be at 7:00 and Stated Meeting at 8:00. We will be having a Mexican style buffet in honor of Cinco de Mayo. The Brighter Side Singers from Temple City High School will be providing entertainment for us.

The Public Schools Luncheon and the Wardens’ retreat were held last month. There were some important lessons to be learned at the Wardens’ retreat, and the Public Schools Luncheon is always impressive when you see so many bright young people being honored from Arcadia. These and all Masonic events will improve with increased attendance from all Masons from our own Lodge, and across the State of California. Along those lines, we will be having our annual Festive Board on June 22; this is open to Masons and non-Masons alike and a large amount of participants ensures that everyone will have a great experience. We will also be hosting a large group of Masons for a third degree presentation on June 23. We are expected to perform a portion of the ritual that day, so the attendance of all Officers is expected.

Brother Jordan Hempstead was the first to contact me with the correct information as to when the Knights Templar were rounded up by the King of France and the Pope. It was on Friday October 13, 1307. I was unable to make it to Stated Meeting on April 5, so I still owe him dinner. The question for this month is: On July 20, 1969, when Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon, for which Masonic jurisdiction did Mr. Aldrin claim the moon? I will buy dinner for the first brother to contact me with the correct answer after the Trestle Board has been published.

We have reached a firm policy for providing refreshment at practices for the remainder of the year. We will have a fairly substantial snack at the last scheduled Thursday practice of each month; other practices will be limited to drinks and chips, pretzels, etc. Attendance of all officers at degree practices is still mandatory.
